PHOTO STORYThe concept for the Capital City Ball was created in September 2007 by a group of DC area professionals who saw an opportunity to create an annual black tie party for the weekend before Thanksgiving to raise money for charity. This year’s charitable cause was to raise awareness and money to combat human trafficking and modern day slavery. Proceeds raised form the Capital City Ball and their silent auction went to Courtney’s House, FAIR Fund, and Polaris Project nonprofit organizations aimed at stopping human trafficking.

FotoWeek DC came to a celebratory end this past weekend at House of Sweden. This one last FotoWeek 2010 bash marked the end to the weeklong festival centered on the art of photography. At this closing celebration, guest were able to rub shoulders with other friendly photo fanatics as the winners of the festivals “Picture the Potomac” Mobile Phone Camera Competition were announced. There were also photo projections to light up the night sky, an on-site exhibition of works by photographer Ewa K. Andinsson, light bites and refreshments, and music by DC’s favorite DJs- Fatback

Some of D.C.'s cutest girls battled it out on the gridiron at the 6th annual Blondes vs. Brunettes powder puff football game held this past weekend. The Blondes took on the Brunettes to tackle Alzheimer's disease by raising money for the Capital Area Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The Blondes won a nail bitter in overtime 26-20 and over $100,000 were raised for the Alzheimer's Association! After the game, blondes and brunettes put their differences aside and came together for a postgame party.

The Atrium behind Bobby Van’s Grill was the venue for Luke's Wings Homecoming 2010 bash! Guest enjoyed an unlimited sampling of 20+ beers from around the world and food pairings all for a special cause, to help raise money to reunite wounded soldiers and their families. Luke's Wings provides travel planning services and airplane tickets for the families of wounded warriors currently hospitalized at medical and rehabilitation centers all over the country. Aside from the great international beer and food, there was great music from DJ Neekola, a wonderful silent auction, and a special appearance by Washington Redskins cheerleaders.

PHOTO STORYAfter 3 days of solid Halloween partying, by the time the actual 31st of October rolled around, many Washingtonian's were done with the holidays. That wasn't the case with the all-stars that showed up to Lima and their exclusive lounge Vetro. Partygoers dressed their best and enjoyed drink specials as they celebrated Halloween on Halloween...next day workday be damned!

PHOTO STORYHot people in hot costumes came out to Vetro to bring in the day of Halloween. On Saturday night, Anna Chaley Croll and Chaley Productions put on a party entitled “Violence is Scary” at Vetro aimed at raising awareness and money for WEAVE and its efforts to end domestic violence. Guests enjoyed an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, cupcakes provided by Georgetown Cupcake, plus other goodies throughout the night. The person with the best costume also took home an awesome prize.

FotoWeek DC is an annual event where the art of photography takes center stage. During this week, there are countless exhibitions and viewings, projections, lectures and workshops, portfolio reviews, and many more special events all centered around photography. At the FotoWeek DC Launch Party, guest were able to congratulate the International Awards Competition winners, revel in powerful images as the winning entries were unveiled, be dazzled by stunning monumental projections, and dine and wine with some of DC’s most creative minds.

For the second year in a row, Luke’s Wings’ Endless Summer Beach Bash was held at L2 Lounge in Georgetown. The lounge was transformed to a beach getaway with palm trees and tropical themes, while the staff served fruity drinks with little umbrellas and guests included hula girls and surfer fellas. The event was in support the Luke’s Wings’ mission to fina
nce future flights for hundreds of wounded military families.

PHOTO STORYBecky’s Fund and Eric Finn Custom Clothiers hosted the Second Annual “Walk This Way” Charity Fashion Show at the The Liaison Hotel in Capitol Hill. This unique event featured the only over-the-pool runway in DC, with professional athletes rocking the runway to take a stand against domestic violence. Matt Landsberg, founder and owner of Eric Finn, the luxury men’s clothier, showcased his collection, modeled by local professional athletes and celebrity models. Other celebrity guests included "Real Housewives" star Mary Amons, Clinton Portis, Angie Goff and Paul Wharton. After party for the event was held at "VETRO", a VIP private room within LIMA Restaurant on K Street. Becky Lee founded Becky’s Fund, a National non-profit organization advocating for the elimination of domestic violence, the support of survivors of domestic violence, and the prevention and and education of domestic violence.
PHOTO STORYLuke’s Wings got Halloween started right with benefit costume party held at Eden’s rooftop bar! All the proceeds from the event went to support the Luke’s Wings organization. Luke's Wings is dedicated to the support of service members who have been wounded in battle. By purchasing travel services for loved ones, Luke's Wings provides families with the means to visit their loved ones during the service member’s hospitalization and rehabilitation.

PHOTO STORYThe annual High Heel Drag Queen Race is one of the DC area’s more unique Halloween events. Held on the Tuesday before the 31st, thousands of spectators line up to catch a glimpse of costumed drag queens showing off their elaborate outfits and racing down 17th Street in Dupont Circle. The event was first held in 1985, with more than 100 drag queens strolled up and down the “runway” prior to the race. The three-block race itself—from R to Church Street on 17th--lasted a mere 30 seconds, but the party ensued for hours. Here are the street party pics!

PHOTO STORYThe 2010 Designer Charity Event, Cosmo Couture, was a juried competition and charity benefit in which local design firms partner with industry manufacturers to create high fashion inspired by the international community residing in Washington DC. Several countries—including the U.S., Ghana, Spain, Italy, and Greece—were on display in the over-the-top iconic outfits on the runway. The work of the participating firms were showcased during a full runway show, which was a benefit for My Sister’s Place, Inc., the largest and oldest non-profit agency exclusively serving battered women and their children in the District of Columbia.

PHOTO STORYFashion icon Tommy Hilfiger, the event's honorary co-chair, and New York City runway model Shannon Rusbuldt (one of Tommy's top models) were just two of the celebrities supporting this benefit for the National Capital Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Also in attendence were former Miss D.C. Kate Michaels, WUSA9's Angie Goff as well as guest model-"Real Housewife" star Michaele Salahi and her husband Tareq. The runway show was held at The Washington Club in Dupont Circle and featured a capsule collection from Tommy Hilfiger, as well as five prominent NYC fashion designers who presented capsule collections from their Fall/Winter 2010 collections.
